Our current focus at Harley-Davidson is centered around early supplier involvement in product design. Progress Casting Group has been very responsive in meeting the needs of Harley Davidson's current production and that of new program requirements. They have provided on-site supplier representatives to assist engineering, purchasing and manufacturing regarding design, quality concerns, manufacturing issues and technical and administrative matters. Progress Casting has repeatedly demonstrated that they are a supplier Harley-Davidson can count on. Pam Hagen Purchasing Engineer Harley-Davidson

I look for quality above all in a supplier, but other factors are important. Flexibility, on-time delivery, and of course price. That's why we work with Progress Casting. We've always had a good relationship with them. Progress has always come through for us when we need them to. They make a very high quality product that I'm not sure you can get anywhere else. We went to Progress Casting with the idea of an internal overflow for our ball washers. We wanted to encapsulate a tube inside the ball washer that would funnel the water overflow down the tube and into the pipe. They made it work. We came to them with an idea that didn't look like it was possible, and they were able to make it happen. That was a real tribute to them.

At the outset of one of our new designs, we sat down with Progress Casting to get their input into what can and can't be produced from the casting standpoint. With one of our models, we felt so comfortable with the prototype design and the concurrent engineering effort that we went right to the hard tool and had them make the tooling for us. Progress Casting is a very quality conscious company. They believe in doing it right the first time, and that's vital in our business where time is so important.
